NORTH NEWTON — Bethany College’s men continue to ping-pong wins with losses as they had a 1-1 week after escaping an upset bid by Bethel on Saturday, 77-74.

The Swedes avenged an earlier-season loss at Hahn Gym. Bethany is now 9-9 in the KCAC and the win should assure the Swedes of making the postseason tournament as they are now tied at for the No. 6 spot.

Khalid Washington led Bethany, now 12-14 overall, with 16 points. Bethel’s Deven Goodwin took game honors with 23.

The Bethany women unfortunately became the first KCAC victim for Bethel, which had entered the game 0-17 in the conference. The Threshers outscored the Swedes 18-12 in the fourth quarter for the win.

Bethany is all but assured of missing the postseason as it’s now 5-13 in the KCAC, 7-17 overall. Kimi Lindshield scored 14 for the Swedes.

The Swede teams are home Thursday against Sterling.
