One more to go.
McPherson’s eighth-grade boys will play Newton for the Pioneer League championship on Friday at the Roundhouse after knocking off Hutchinson 41-23 here Tuesday.
Adam Elliott stepped up to score 13 points, while the Alexander cousins Jayton and Max scored 12 and 11, respectively.
“Overall I thought we played well,” MMS coach Tyler Brown said. “We still need to do a better job of making the extra pass and making the defense work longer and harder in our halfcourt offense. There are too many possessions that we don't make a pass or only make one pass and the shot goes up. If we can share the ball and keep teams to only one shot we will have a chance to win the whole thing. The other positive is that any one of our players are capable of being double figures. They can all score, it may just come down to the defensive scheme of our opponent of who may have a big night. It's nice to have multiple people that can score.”
The Bullpups take a 10-5 record into the championship game.
