Thursday is “Think Pink Night” at McPherson College’s Sport Center.

Both McPherson basketball teams will be wearing pink warmups and fans are encouraged to attend the games with Saint Mary by wearing pink as well to get into the spirit of the evening.

The women start the action at 6 p.m., with men to follow. Join Matt Cole, voice of the Bulldogs, for all the play-by-play action starting at 5:55 on 96.7 KBBE-FM.

Additionally, a free-will donation will be accepted near the gate with all proceeds to benefit cancer research and patient care through the Relay for Life of McPherson County and Women and Children Combating Cancer (WACCC) in McPherson County. Donations of id="mce_marker" will receive breast cancer awareness head sweatbands.

For the Mac teams, they are fighting for their KCAC playoff lives. The Mac men are facing elimination as they trail eighth-place Oklahoma Wesleyan by three games for the final playoff spot.

Saint Mary, of course, is led by Grant Greenberg, who is expected to become a rare four-time All-American after this season. This season he became the all-time leading collegiate scorer in Kansas history when he surpassed Kansas’ Danny Manning. He has scored more than 3,000 points in his career.

The Spires are in third place in the KCAC at 12-6 and are 20-7 overall.

Mac is tied for 10th in the KCAC at 5-13 and is 11-15 overall.

The Mac women are tied for eighth in the KCAC with Oklahoma Wesleyan as both teams are 7-11. Both are two games back of seventh-place Southwestern, so it’s starting to look like a two-team race for the final spot and the teams split during the season.

Saint Mary is 12-6 and tied for third. In addition to the Spires, the Bulldogs still have to play Ottawa, which is tied with Saint Mary. The Bulldogs also have 1-17 York and 9-9 Southwestern left to play, so the schedule doesn’t line up that well for Mac.

For Oklahoma Wesleyan, it has games left with tailenders York and Bethel, which should be easy wins, but closes with Sterling and Tabor. The Eagles, though, have only one home game left whereas Mac has three.
