The Central Christian College men’s basketball team reached a milestone here Tuesday.
The Tigers had a rollicking good time in routing Union College 116-54 to win their 20th game of the season against only five losses. It was the Tigers’ 12th win in a row.
“It was good to get our bench very involved in the game," CCC head coach Tony Romero said. "Some of those guys get limited opportunities in games, but show up and practice and don't complain, they just stay about the team. I happy for those guys tonight, Colton (Berg), Josiah (King), and Vann (Calhoune) all came in and played well. Everything becomes a little easier when we were able to shoot the ball the way we did."
Michael Gholston led the Tigers with 27 points, followed by Steve Kuminga (24), Berg (15), Ernest Burton (10) and LaDarius Lenard (10). Burton had the team’s first triple double with 10 rebounds and 11 assists.
The Tigers were 46 of 84 from the field and made a stunning 23 3-pointers as they took 45 shots from beyond the arc.
The Tigers will be tested mightily on Friday when they travel to play College of the Ozarks, which is 23-3 lifetime against Central.
