MMS wrestlers split matches

McPherson Middle School’s wrestling team split a double dual here Thursday.

The Bullpups lost 72-26 to Hutchinson, but outlasted Derby North with a 60-54 decision.

“I thought we wrestled tough,” MMS coach Kaden Kretzer said. “Hutch has a very solid team and they do a good job of filling their weight classes. Our dual with Derby North was close, but we found a way to come out on top. A large majority of our team are first- and second-year wrestlers, but they all have done well when it comes time to step out on the mat. As for our more experienced kids they have been lights out so far.”

Here are the MMS records on the day:

Holli Giddings, 1-0

Kyren Anderson, 1-0

Kadyn Schmidt, 0-1

Lorenzo Cruzen, 2-0
