It's a sweep for MHS bowlers

HUTCHINSON — It was an outstanding day for McPherson High’s bowling teams Thursday as they swept a triangular with Buhler and Salina Central.

“Today was a day where everybody showed improvement as a team,” MHS coach Herb Halinksi said. “Communication was good among players and for the most part they made spares. We still have a lot of work to do. The most important thing is that they focus on team and help and support each other during both the good and when teammates are struggling.  I started seeing that today. Clayton (Ouellette) and Jeff (Reed) both showed valuable leadership skills rallying the boys and telling each of the others what is important.”

The MHS boys had a 2,560 total to outlast Buhler (2,365). Salina Central was third with 2,104.

Ouellette used a monster 276 game as a springboard to a 718 series, his second straight 700 series. Reed had a 616, buoyed by a 223 game.

The girls’ championship came down to the final throw as MHS scored 1,783 to clip Buhler by just 2 pins. Salina Central again was third with 1,616.

Ashley LaSalle’s 476 led the Bullpups.
