Derby North came into the Roundhouse on Friday and outlasted McPherson’s seventh-grade boys 49-48 to win the Pioneer League Tournament championship.

Seth Madron scored 20 points to lead the Bullpups, who finished the year 11-4. Aiden Hoover and Jayden Dukes added 9 and 8 points, respectively.

“I love this group. We had a tight score all night and the score, lights or moment was never too big for them,” MMS coach Eric Burghart said. “It's tough to put into words how much each and every player contributed to an unbelievable season without causing a depression in a forest, but I hope these guys are proud of the blood, sweat and tears they left in their seventh-grade season. As I told them in the locker room, this group is going to go on and accomplish great things on the court. They have some fantastic coaches waiting for them up ahead if they can stick together and I look forward to having a front row seat.”
