It’s the final week of the KCAC basketball regular season and McPherson College’s women still have a shot at the playoffs.
The Bulldog teams head to Ottawa on Thursday for games with the Braves at Wilson Field House. The women start at 6 p.m., with the men to follow.
For those unable to make the long trip, Voice of the Bulldogs Matt Cole will have all the action beginning at 5:55 on 96.7 KBBE-FM.
The Mac women are in a three-way battle with Oklahoma Wesleyan and Southwestern for the seventh and eighth playoff spots as the Top 6 have been sewn up. Wesleyan and Southwestern are both 9-11, a game up on the 8-12 Bulldogs.
All three contenders would appear to be underdogs on Thursday. Mac takes on an Ottawa team that is 12-8, though the Bulldogs upset the Braves in the first meeting at the Sport Center.
Meanwhile, Southwestern entertains third-place Saint Mary and Oklahoma Wesleyan is on the road to Sterling, which is tied with Ottawa for fifth.
Saturday will probably decide things as Mac is home to play Southwestern. Oklahoma Wesleyan figures to lose at it plays at second-place Tabor.
A tiebreaker format is in place to settle things.
The Mac men have been eliminated, so they’ll be trying to finish the season on a high note to take some momentum into next year.
The Bulldogs are 6-14 in the KCAC and in 10th place. Ottawa is tied for sixth with Bethany as both teams are 10-10.
The Top 8 make the playoffs.
