OMAHA — Nobody saw this coming.
Central Christian College’s men played most likely their poorest game of the year as they were stunned 65-48 on Tuesday by Grace University.
Central had handled the Royals earlier this season at Alexander Arena.
“We got what we deserved,” said CCC coach Tony Romero, whose team is now 20-7. “From jump to the last buzzer, they played with more passion, urgency and pride than we did. Very disappointed with our effort and togetherness tonight. There is absolutely zero excuses for us to go and play with the effort we put out there. We are not going to blame it on missing shots, we still had to defend and rebound and we did a poor job there. I do know that we will learn from this, that is the only option."
CCC shot just 19 of 72 from the field. Only Sam Clayborn, who was 6 of 12 and scored 16 points, was on his game. Jubril Osagie was a monster off the glass with 14 rebounds and had a double-double as he scored 10 points. Senior guards Michael Gholston and Daniel Nwosuh, the two steadiest Tigers, were a combined 3 of 23 from the field.
Central is home on Thursday to take on Haskell.

• GRACE WOMEN 54, CENTRAL 45 — Maybe playing with a seven-member roster is finally catching up with the road-weary Tigers.
The Tigers lost their sixth straight and are now 9-14 as offense continues to be a problem.
Abbie Banks led CCC with 13 points and Kelsey Grimaldo tallied 11. CCC made only 15 of 67 shots from the field.
