McPherson High’s bowling teams head to Wichita on Friday for the AVCTL Championships.

The varsity teams bowl at 10:30 a.m., with the junior varsity at 2:30.

The MHS boys are 6-1 on the year in dual matches, while the girls are 4-3.

“It will be an interesting day. The kids are starting to gel together,” MHS coach Herb Halinski said. “If the kids make their spares, I think they have a good chance of winning league.  We will be treating it as a big tournament to prepare for regionals next week.”

The MHS boys have a potential league champion in Clayton Ouellette, who has put together back-to-back series over 700. Jeff Reed also has the ability to get hot and could make a run at the Top 5.

For the girls, veterans Alexis Kieffer and Ashley LaSalle will lead the way as they have all year as MHS has a young team.
