Hesston's boys are seeded No. 1

Hesston’s boys are the top seed for the Garden Plain Class 3A basketball sub-state.

The Swathers (18-2) host Kingman (5-14) on Tuesday.

With a win, the Swathers would play either Cheney (10-9) or Garden Plain (9-10) on Friday in Garden Plain.

Other first-round games are Conway Springs (16-4) hosting Sedgwick (8-11) and Halstead (11-9) entertaining Chaparral (8-11).

The Hesston girls (15-5) are in a loaded sub-state as they are only the No. 3 seed. They host 14-5 Sedgwick on Monday.

A win and the Swathers would play the winner of Conway Springs (14-6) and Cheney (15-4) on Thursday.

Kingman (17-2) is the top seed and hosts Chaparral (10-9) on Monday, while the other game pits Garden Plain (14-5) at Halstead (14-5).

The finals are on Saturday in Garden Plain.
