Here is a breakdown for the five McPherson High wrestlers for the Class 4A State Tournament that begins on Friday in Salina at the Bicentennial Center.

106 — Rhett Edmonson — Edmonson, just a freshman, has drawn a fellow freshman in Brayton Olesen of Basehor-Linwood in the first round. Edmonson is 26-10 on the season, while Olesen is 18-18. Wrestlers to watch are Hunter Reddick of Clearwater (22-1), Blake Leiszler of Concordia (32-4), Preston Martin of Paola (31-3) and Griffin Baker of Andover Central (36-7).

132 — Brynton Crews — The 15-8 Crews, a junior, has battled injuries, but is now rounding back into form. Top contenders are expected to be Gunnar Gentzler of Andover Central (30-10, and he’s Crews’ first-round opponent), Justin Hershberger of Buhler (36-3) and Corbin Nirschl of Basehor-Lindwood (39-1).

138 — Austin Eldredge — Many believe the 37-3 Eldredge and Zach Eck of Andale (33-3) are on a collision course for the finals, but Levi Green (43-4) of Baldwin and Gad Huseman of Tonganoxie (39-2) will certainly have something to say. This is a tremendously loaded class with nine wrestlers with at least 30 wins. Eldredge, a senior who has the all-time Kansas record for career technical falls, opens with Jared Parenti of Ottawa (32-14).

145 — Scott Radke — The 30-10 Radke, just a sophomore, is part of a division that is headlined by 37-0 Colby Johnson of Burlington. Buhler’s 35-5 Tyler Whitson could be dangerous as could Colby’s 34-11 Travis Finley. Radke is matched against Gage Leddy (23-4) of Chanute in the first round.

182 — Bailey Yarborough — Like Crews, the 24-9 Yarborough has battled injuries, but the junior should be ready to go. Trey Hoerner of Abilene (36-1) and Braden Morgan (31-1) of El Dorado are top contenders. Payton Hale (19-2) of Columbus is Yarborough’s first foe.
