McPherson Middle School’s wrestling team split in matches here Thursday.

The Bullpups opened with a 45-30 victory over Derby before losing a 66-31 decision to Valley Center.

“It was a fun meet, the whole school got out early and was able to watch the dual against Derby, which was loud and exciting,” MMS coach Kaden Kretzer said. “After that we wrestled Valley Center, who has a very tough team. We are almost down to a week until the league tournament and I believe the team is really beginning to reach their potential.”
