SALINA — McPherson High will be sending Alexis Kieffer and Jeff Reed on to the state bowling tournament after they qualified as individuals during regional action on Thursday.
They will compete in next Thursday’s state meet at Wichita’s Northrock Lanes.
“They both bowled really well and were able to make it through,” MHS coach Herb Halinski said. “We have been practicing spares and they both made their spares. I am glad these two seniors were able to make it back to state.”
The MHS teams, however, didn’t make it through as the girls were fourth and the boys placed sixth.
“The tournament had a lot of good bowlers there and the scoring pace was very high,” Halinski said.
Kieffer had a 537 series, with games of 151-188-198. She was seventh overall with Great Bend’s Allie Brodrick winning the title with a 635.
Great Bend was the team champion, while also finishing ahead of the Bullpups were Andover Central and Salina South.
Reed had a 685 series, including games of 226-201-258. He was seventh overall.
Newton’s Jake Lindenmeyer was the regional champion with a 713 series. Also over 700 were Nate Sevier of Wichita Heights (706), Jacob Holden of Great Bend (704) and Colton McArthur of Buhler (703).
Great Bend won the team title, followed by Salina South and Wichita Heights.
