Tigers open tonight; earn honors

Central Christian College’s men’s basketball team begins its attempt to earn a national berth tonight when it takes on Fisher College in the opening round of the AII Tournament in Point Lookout, Mo.

The Tigers are 22-7 and the No. 3 seed. They take on Fisher College at 7 p.m. and if successful, they would play No. 2 seed Washington Adventist University at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Rochester College is the top seed and awaits the winner of today’s first game between College of the Ozarks and Indiana University-Northwest.

The championship game is 4 p.m. Sunday.

The team took part in opening ceremonies on Thursday and the Tigers earned some honors. Michael Gholston was named first-team All-AII, while Jubril Osagie was tabbed AII Newcomer of the Year. Sam Clayborn was picked to the third team.

CCC’s Daniel Nwosuh was honored for being on the Champions of Character Team.
