SALINA — McPherson High’s Bailey Yarborough has become a big story at the Class 4A State Wrestling Tournament.

With a 5-2 victory over Justin Lamatsch in the quarterfinals, the unheralded Yarborough is now one victory away from wrestling for the 182-pound state championship.

Now he’s got a monumental task in the semifinals as he takes on 38-1 Trey Hoerner of Abilene, thought by many to be the favorite to win the class.

Yarborough and teammates Rhett Edmonson and Austin Eldredge all have advanced to the semifinals for the Bullpups.

Scott Radke, at 145, is still alive after winning his consolation match 5-1. Brynton Crews, at 132, was ousted after losing 8-2 in his consolation match.
