That’s just what Central Christian College’s men’s basketball team did on Friday, overcoming a 27-25 halftime deficit for a 64-52 victory over Fisher College, which came all the way from Massachusetts to play in the first round of the AII Tournament.
The Tigers, now 23-7, play Washington Adventist at 7 p.m. in the semifinals on Saturday. If they win, the play for the championship at 4 p.m. Sunday.
Central had a cold hand all night, making just 25 of 70 field goals, but turned to its defense for the win. Fisher made just 17 of 63 shots, more than half of its field goals from 3-point.
AII Newcomer of the Year Jubril Osagie had a big night for CCC with 15 rebounds to go along with his 11 points. Sam Clayborn led the Tigers with 17 points, while Michael Gholston scored 11 and Daniel Nwosuh chipped in with 10. Kendric Warren snatched away 11 rebounds.
