MUSKOGEE, Okla. — Central Christian College’s softball team suffered a pair of demoralizing one-run losses on Friday against Bacone.
The Tigers are now 0-10 with several close defeats.
Central led Game 1 4-3 going into the final inning, but Bacone pushed across two runs for the stunner. CCC actually outhit the hosts, 12-6, and at one point had a 4-0 lead.
Ashly Westgarth was 3 for 4 to lead the Tigers. Nicole Steiskal and Rayne Wright added two hits apiece and Kasi Kraus drove in two runs.
The second game was beyond depressing. Central scored seven runs in the top of the seventh to take a 15-10 lead, but Bacone scored six in the bottom of the inning for the walk-off win.
Kraus and Mariah Grijalva both had three hits for CCC and Westgarth drove in three runs. Westgarth and Lyssa Ritchhart had two hits, while Steiskal, Wright and Morgan Hildebrandt all drove in two runs.
Central led 6-0 early.
The Tigers’ home opener today with Dordt has been cancelled because of the cold weather. The team will try to play on Tuesday at Tabor, depending on the weather.
