SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — McPherson College’s baseball team began a four-game series with Evangel by losing the first two games on Friday.

Mac led the opener 1-0 until the third when Evangel erupted for four runs to key a 5-3 victory.

The Bulldogs actually had more hits, 8-5.

Trent Smith and Evan Willow accounted for most of those as they had three apiece. Willow’s were loud as he homered and doubled.

Matthew Green took the loss despite allowing only one earned run.

Mac again led the second game 1-0 early, but Evangel struck for a pair of five-run innings to spark a 13-4 success.

Lane Flaming homered for Mac. Smith, Reily Martin and Jackson Goodmiller all collected two hits as Mac pounded out 12 despite losing.

Cory Royer took the loss.

The teams are scheduled to play two more games today. Mac needs a sweep to get back to .500 on the year as it’s 7-9.
