Baker University outlasted McPherson College’s softball team twice here Saturday as the Bulldogs are now 3-8 on the season.

• Baker 9, Mac 6 — Much of the scoring took place in the final inning as the Wildcats put up three runs to take a 9-2 lead, but the Bulldogs showed some fight with four runs in the bottom of the inning. Baker led 6-2 after 5 1/2 innings.

Newcomers Judith Salazar and Kortney Jones continue to pave the way for the Mac offense. Salazar had a double and single, driving in three runs. Jones had two hits and two RBIs. Another newcomer, Jessica Jones, also had two hits.

• Baker 6, Mac 5 — The Bulldogs appeared to be on their way to a split as they were up 5-1 after five innings, but Baker scored twice in the sixth and two more in the seventh for the stunning win.

Kortney Jones stayed on fire with a homer, triple and single, good for three RBIs. Jasmine Curiel was 3-for-4, part of a 14-hit Mac attack.  Jessica Jones had two hits, as did Salazar and Katie Holmes.

The Bulldogs host Graceland Tuesday before playing five games this weekend in the Friends Tournament at Wichita.
