PARK CITY — York College’s men and Tabor’s women captured the KCAC Postseason Basketball Tournament championships on Monday at Hartman Arena.
In a wild contest, York outlasted Southwestern 109-104 in overtime in a game that determined which team joined Tabor College at nationals. Tabor automatically qualified by winning the KCAC regular season, but lost to Southwestern in the semifinals.
Johnny Cooksey scored 23 points for York and Cameron Coleman added 20 as they offset the 1-2 Moundbuilder punch of Cameron Hunt (36) and DJ Wallace (31).
There was an upset in the women’s game as Tabor knocked off regular-season champion Friends 74-70, but both teams already had qualified for nationals.
Morgan Ediger’s 19 points led a balanced Tabor offense, while Shann Sellers had 32 in a losing effort for Friends.
