WICHITA — McPherson High’s Jeff Reed and Alexis Kieffer finished their Bullpup bowling careers on Thursday by competing in the Class 5-1A State Championships at Northrock Lanes.

Reed had a creditable 25th-place finish with a 565, which included games of 183-210-172. The winning score was Buhler’s Colt MacArthur, who had 219-236-206 for a 661.

Kieffer tied for 61st as she had scores of 148-169-107 for a 425. Mulvane’s Addyson Schiffelbein was the champion with a 201-212-208-621.

Topeka Seaman’s boys and Great Bend’s girls won the team titles.

“Scores were low, which surprised me,” MHS coach Herb Halinski said. “Alexis got off to a good start, but didn't keep up with how the lanes changed over the course of the day. She was glad to get to state, but disappointed about her last game. Jeff had a good look and rolled the ball really well. He just could not make a strike. He had a lot of spares. I am extremely proud of these two. They had a great senior year.”
