YORK, Neb. — York College is considered one of KCAC baseball favorites and it showed McPherson College why on Saturday.
The Panthers piled up 34 runs in two games as they dealt the Bulldogs 23-4 and 11-8 setbacks in the KCAC opener for both teams.
Mac is now 7-14 overall and the teams play again today in a single game.
• York 23, Mac 4 — It was like batting practice for the Panthers, who scored eight runs in the fourth inning and nine in the fifth. Mac actually trailed only 5-4 going into the bottom of the fourth.
Reily Martin slammed a homer for the Bulldogs, but the Panthers countered with four bombs. Dylan Klava was 3 for 3 with two RBIs for Mac and Jackson Goodmiller had two hits.
• York 11, Mac 8 — The Bulldogs were much more competitive in Game 2, but York had the bats booming.
Klava homered and singled for the Bulldogs and also walked twice as he reached base four times. Lane Fleming had two hits and three RBIs, while Bryce Strecker also drove in two runs. York had two more homers.
