TOPEKA — Central Christian College’s Devontae Fitzgerald went 1-2 at the NAIA National Wrestling Tournament this past weekend.

Fitzgerald was pinned in his first match, but came back to win a 13-11 decision to stay alive. Fitzgerald was leading his third match when he got caught and pinned.

“As a young program, Devontae has been our leader on and off the mat this year,” CCC coach Tom Carr said. “Coming to a national tournament can be challenging, but this experience will serve him well next year and as the program grows it will serve his teammates. He had some tough matches and tough losses, but they will provide growth as he works to be Central's first All-American."
