It’s finally over and sooner than had been hoped.

Central Christian College’s memorable men’s basketball season came to an end on Thursday as the Tigers lost a 75-57 decision to Central Baptist College in the opening round of the NCCAA Central Regional at Alexander Arena.

The Tigers were down just 37-32 at the half, but the offense went dormant after the break as they shot just 28 percent.

It was the final game for Tiger seniors Michael Gholston, Daniel Nwosuh, Sam Clayborn and Ernest Burton.

Gholston exits as the school’s all-time leading scorer and Nwosuh as its all-time assists leader. Clayborn’s claim to fame is that he went over 1,000 points in his career, while Burton was a super sub throughout his career.

Jubril Osagie led Central with 13 points, while Nwosuh scored 12, and Clayborn and Gholston added 11 apiece.

Central finished the year 23-9, its best record since going 22-10 in 2010-11.

Central (57) — Warren 3, Osagie 13, Clayborn 11, Nwosuh 12, Gholston 11, Lenard 2, Burton 5.

Centra Baptist (75) — Ettiene 10, Evans 15, McBride 2, Green 5, Harris 3, Perkins 3, Albright 5, Reed 17, Ford 2, Ayers 4, Reed 2, Sims 7.
