PLAINVIEW, Texas — Central Christian College’s baseball team was competitive in both games Friday with Wayland Baptist, but two runs in each game wasn’t enough for the Tigers to secure a victory.

Central lost 3-2 and 6-2 decisions. The teams complete the three-game series with a single game today. The Tigers are now 7-16 as they have dropped their last five.

• Wayland Baptist 3, Central 2 — The Tigers tied the game at 2-2 with two runs in the sixth, but Wayland Baptist scored the game-winner in the bottom of the inning. Mario Rivera had two hits for CCC, while Kenny Cordova had two RBIs. Reggie Thomas threw a terrific game in defeat, allowing only four hits in six innings.

• Wayland Baptist 6, Central 2 — A pair of three-run innings led to CCC’s demise, as the Tigers’ only two runs came in the final inning. Rivera and Nate Patterson drove in runs for the Tigers. Central’s Landon Stevens threw four scoreless innings out of the six he toiled.
