It doesn’t get any more exciting than this.

Trevor Haycock’s two-run walk-off single in the ninth inning enabled McPherson College’s baseball team to sweep its three-game series with Ottawa University on Monday, 4-3.

The Bulldogs were down 3-1 going into the bottom of the eighth, but scored a run in that inning, setting the stage for Haycock’s clutch hit that leveled Mac’s KCAC record at 3-3 and improved its overall mark to 10-15.

It was a game of missed opportunities for the Bulldogs as they pounded out 14 hits, but time and again couldn’t get the big blow in the clutch until the ninth.

Reily Martin and Trent Smith both collected three hits for Mac. Haycock, Evan Willow and Jackson Goodmiller all had two.

Blake Ware pitched a terrific 7 2/3 innings for the Bulldogs, but it was Soren Yarnell who was the winner in relief.

Mac has no rest as it takes on crosstown rival Central Christian College today, with game time 4 p.m. Central was a 10-4 winner in the first meeting.
