Wheat State League tabs area players

Elyria Christian School, Little River and Canton-Galva had plenty of basketball players honored today when the Wheat State League announced its postseason selections.

On the boys’ side, Elyria Christian’s Tyler Thiessen and Aidan Fields were joined on the first team by Little River’s Clay Zeller.

Also on the first team were Braden Nelson and Noah Swarts of Solomon, Cole Srajer and Dylan Deines of Centre, Seppe Van Hulten and Cade Stillwell of Rural Vista and Nathan Jackson of Wakefield.

Canton-Galva’s Hunter Pearson was named honorable mention, along with Jordan Griffin and Dylan Lindeman of Goessel, Jacob Harmon of Solomon and Austin Reynolds of Peabody.

Solomon’s Travis Smith was Coach of the Year.

On the girls’ side, Canton-Galva’s Kelli Nightingale and Emma Ruddle were first-team selections, as was Little River’s Melanie Renken.

Also on the team were Eden Hiebert and Brittney Hiebert of Goessel, Lauren Campuzano and Hannah Riedy of Rural Vista, Carley Rohleder of Solomon, Jordyn Schrader of Herington and Kate Basore of Centre.

Elyria Christian’s Bailey Unruh and Melea Redenbaugh were tabbed honorable mention. Others were Shelby Pankratz of Centre, Gabi Nelms of Wakefield and Haylee Weeks of Herington.

Ryan Hoopes of Goessel was picked Coach of the Year.
