After six scoreless innings between Central Christian College’s baseball team and Dordt College here Friday, business started to pick up.

Dordt scored four runs in the seventh inning and Central then answered with three in the eighth, but the Defenders added an insurance run in the ninth for a 5-3 victory in the well-played, nine-inning game.

CCC’s Reggie Thomas was terrific on the mound for six innings, but all four Dordt runs in the seventh were unearned. Zane Howard finished up in relief.

Central was held to four hits, two apiece by Nate Patterson and Shomari Cann.

The Tigers, now 7-19, host the Defenders for two games today, with first pitch set for noon.
