Some amazing pitching sparked Central Christian College’s baseball team to a sweep of Dordt College on Saturday as the Tigers doubly avenged Friday’s single-game loss.
Keaton Snyder threw a tremendous two-hit shutout in Game 1 and the Tigers scored both of their runs in the first inning.
Snyder went all seven innings and walked three, while fanning nine. Mario Rivera and Shomari Cann picked up two hits apiece.
In Game 2, Landon Stevens allowed just one run over five innings, and Bryan Scott and Zane Howard both tossed a scoreless inning of relief as the Tigers won yet another low-scoring, close game, 2-1.
CCC scored a run in the first and another in the fourth before the Defenders halved the lead with a run in the fifth.
Hunter Wilcher crashed a homer for CCC and had two hits, while Howard also had two hits.
The desperately needed sweep ended a rough patch for the Tigers as they had started the day having lost eight straight. They play Tuesday at Kansas Wesleyan in a single, nine-inning game. Central is now 9-18 on the season.
