MHS, area cagers honored by The Eagle

The Wichita Eagle announced more basketball honors today and McPherson High was well represented on its All-State teams.

MHS’ Taylor Robertson made the girls’ Class 4A Division I first team after earlier being named to the All-State All-Class first team, which qualifies her for the MHS Wall of Fame.

Mandi Cooks was named honorable mention.

MHS had three boys honored. Ben Pyle, who had earlier been named second-team All-State All-Class, was 4A Division I first team, Mason Alexander was second team and Jake Alexander was honorable mention.

Here are the area selections:

• Canton-Galva – Kelli Nightingale, honorable mention 2A girls.

• Elyria Christian — Tyler Thiessen, honorable mention 1A Division II boys, Melea Redenbaugh, honorable mention 1A Division II girls.

• Little River — Clay Zeller, second-team 1A Division I boys, Melanie Renken, honorable mention 1A Division I boys.

• Hesston — Zach Vogt, 2nd team 3A boys, Zach Esau, honorable mention 3A boys, Kailey Jo Ince, honorable mention 3A girls, Olivia Brubacher, honorable mention 3A girls.

• Inman — Payton Froese, honorable mention 2A boys.

• Moundridge — Noah Eichelberger, honorable mention 2A boys, Lexi Lorimor, honorable mention 2A girls, Bethany Stucky, honorable mention 2A girls.

• Smoky Valley — Nick Reinert, honorable mention 4A Division II boys, Katie Bellah, honorable mention 4A Division II girls.
