Softball Tigers lose to No. 3-ranked team

LAKELAND, Fla. — Central Christian College’s softball team completed its spring break trip on Tuesday with two losses to Southeastern University of Florida, the No. 3-ranked team in the country.

The Fire won the first game 10-0, then completed the sweep with a 12-4 victory.

Central was held to three hits in the first game, but two of them were doubles by Kasi Kraus and Ashly Westgarth. Mariah Grijalva had the other hit.

The Fire had one big inning, scoring six runs in the third.

Central trailed Game 2 only 6-4 after 3 1/2 innings before the Fire scored the game’s final six runs. Evelyn Maysonet was 2 for 2 to lead the Tigers. Rayne Wright had a double.

Central is off until March 29 when it hosts Langston University. The Tigers are still looking for their first win of the year.
