As construction continues along U.S. Highway 56 on the east side of McPherson, the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) has scheduled the closing of Centennial Drive beginning the week of April 3.
Motorists will not have access to the south side of the Centennial and US-56 intersection to allow for concrete pavement replacement.
Temporary stop signs at the intersection will assist with traffic flow.
Drivers are encouraged to utilize alternate routes including Champlain Road, which reopened on March 21.
Reduced speeds will also promote safety.
The 18-month KDOT project is on schedule with a July 31 completion date. The project includes the replacement of four-lane pavement and shoulders along U.S. Highway 56. Construction includes restoring the bridge, reviewing crash wall requirements at railroad bridge piers, developing sidewalks and a hiking/biking trail and installing conduit and light pole footings for a city lighting system.
Construction updates will be provided as warranted by KDOT.
