LINDSBORG, KANSAS

Rick and Julie Bodenhamer bring both business knowledge and personal motivation to their new store in Lindsborg called Rendezvous Adventure Outfitters.

In a freshly rehabilitated historic space at 113 N. Main Street, Rendezvous Adventure Outfitters is built on Rick's 16 years in retail outdoor equipment and clothing, as well as the couple's personal commitment to outdoor recreation.

"For two years we've been actively planning on relocating to Lindsborg and opening the store," said Rick Bodenhamer. "Now it's here and it's fun to see it all coming together." Bodenhamer said the store focuses on "the essentials to go enjoy the outdoors" - camping, hiking, and traveling, either locally or abroad. In stock already are well-known brands of equipment and clothing for men and women, with more being added weekly. By year's end, the Bodenhamers hope to offer several lines of shoes for outdoor recreation.

Store selections are based on the couple's personal outdoor experiences, as well as on Rick's 16 years of retailing outdoor equipment and clothing, most recently as manager of Backwoods in Wichita's Bradley Fair district.

"We have selected lines and products that we know most people like and rely upon," Bodenhamer said.

From their honeymoon camping at Chaco Canyon in New Mexico 19 years ago, to working at the archaeological dig site of Tel Dor in Israel, to their current hiking expeditions with sons Logan and Jordan at Kanopolis State Park just east of Lindsborg, the Bodenhamers are living a long-term dream.

The store will offer advice on being well-prepared for outdoor enjoyment and soon, custom-guided hikes in the area.

David Hay of First Bank Kansas said that Rendezvous Adventure Outfitters couldn't come at a better time for Lindsborg's Main Street. "People in our area are pumped about the Bodenhamers' experiences, as well our community's growing appreciation for the outdoors."

The store also will host the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour. On September 11th at McPherson Open House in McPherson, audiences will be able to view up to three hours of outdoor-related films introduced at the prestigious international venue.
