BARTLESVILLE, Okla. — McPherson College’s baseball team upset the No. 3-ranked NAIA team in the country Sunday when the Bulldogs outslugged Oklahoma Wesleyan, 13-9.
Down 2-0 early, the Bulldogs put up four runs in the second inning and four more in the third. The lead later swelled to 10-2 before the Eagles staged a late comeback to make Mac nervous.
Desmond Grayson slugged a pair of homers for the Bulldogs and drove in six runs, while Jakob Shields also homered.
Mac pounded out 12 hits, including three by Grayson and Evan Willow. Shields drove in three runs and had two hits, ad Dylan Fontenot also had two hits.
Logan Worswick was the winner, with relief help from Zack McKay and Soren Yarnell.
The Bulldogs improved to 4-8 in the KCAC and 13-21 overall. Wesleyan dropped to 8-4 in the KCAC and 28-7 overall.
The Bulldogs and crosstown counterpart Central Christian College are scheduled to play a single game tonight at 7:00 at Light Capital Diamond, weather permitting. The teams have split their first two meetings.
Next KCAC action is Friday and Saturday at Friends, which is receiving votes in the national rankings.
