GODDARD — Total domination.
That’s the best way to describe the McPherson High boys tennis team’s performance in the Goddard Invitational on Thursday against 6A and 5A schools.
The Bullpups, ranked No. 2 in Class 4A, swept all four divisions, with each entry going 3-0 on the day.
“For a day with not-so-good weather, we made the most of the moment,” MHS coach Tyler Brown said. “Good start to the year.”
MHS actually had tried to open on Tuesday, but got only part way through its own tournament before rain halted the proceedings. The meet was to be resumed today, but it now has been cancelled.
Jarrod Nowak and Andrew Snell played No. 1 and 2 singles, respectively, while Nolan Schrader and Kaden Stewart made up the No. 1 doubles team, and Hadley Hageman and Patrick Munsey played No. 2.
MHS scored a perfect 24 points, while Maize (15) and Goddard Eisenhower (12) battled for second. Other teams were Derby (8), Wichita Northwest (3) and Goddard (2).
