ANDOVER — Hesston High’s boys tennis team scored 12 points to take sixth place Thursday in the Andover Invitational.
Goddard Eisenhower scored 27 points to take first. Also ahead of Hesston was Andover Central (20), Andover Blue (19), Valley Center (14) and Wellington (14). There were eight teams in all.
Jeb Carlson and Jorge Morales took third at No. 1 doubles to lead the Swathers, while Will Rizza and Brendan Boles were fourth at No. 2. Logan Gamble was sixth at No. 1 singles and Reuben Peachy Stoner was seventh at No. 2 singles.
“We competed pretty well today,” Hesston coach Mark Dahlsten said. “The field, especially the No. 1s, was really deep. Logan played well and finished sixth, which says a lot about the depth in No. 1 singles. Jeb and Jorge played much more confidently this time out, which I think is a function of playing more together. Will Rizza and Brendan Boles competed well at No. 2 doubles while Reuben gritted out his last match after losing a tough second match.”
