Jr. Eagle thinclads shine at Wakefield

WAKEFIELD — Canton-Galva Junior High opened its track and field season Thursday with a quality performance in the Wakefield Invitational.

Centre, Bennington and Sterling also were on hand. The Eagle boys won both the seventh- and eighth-grade divisions, including 13 first-place finishes.

Tyson Struber broke two school records, going 18-4 in the seventh-grade long jump and running 26.03 in the 200.

Here are those who took first:

• 7th Boys •

Tyson Struber--1st in long jump, 200, 400 and high jump

Eddy Reedy--1st in 200 hurdles

Morgan Becker--1st in 800 and 1,600

1st place sprint medley relay

• 8th Boys •

Brayden Collins--1st in triple jump

Brayden Minson--1st in discus, 800 and 1,600

Gage Holm--1st in 3,200

• 8th Girls •

Alexa Bell--1st in 800

The team is at Peabody Thursday.
