SHAWNEE, Okla. — Central Christian College’s three-game baseball road trip to St. Gregory’s resulted in three losses, with two of the games going down to the final pitch.
• St. Gregory’s 13, Central 12 — Central stunned the Cavaliers by tying the game in the ninth with six runs, but St. Gregory’s won on a walk-off single in the bottom of the inning.
It was a wild game as Central led 6-0 early, but St. Gregory’s scored the next 12 runs before the Tigers came up with their huge ninth.
Zane Howard powered two homers for CCC, while Kenny Cordova had one. Howard had five RBIs. Cordova was 3 for 4 with three RBIs. Caleb Gorman added two hits.
• St. Gregory’s 12, Central 9 — Another wild finish. The Tigers scored five runs in the final inning to tie the game at 9-all, but a three-run homer by Ryan Lujan-Leonard gave St. Gregory’s a second straight walk-off win.
Leaders for the Tigers were Howard (two RBIs), Hunter Wilcher (two hits, two RBIs), Cordova (two RBIs) and Ian Eshelman (two RBIs).
• St. Gregory’s 8, Central 2 — No theatrics in this one. The Cavaliers scored seven runs in the bottom of the first and made that stand up.
Central had only three hits in the game, with RBIs by Eshelman and Shomari Cann. Patrick Lujan gave up just one run in 5 2/3 innings of relief.
Central is now 12-26 and hosts nationally ranked Sterling College (No. 23) on Tuesday, then Kansas Wesleyan comes to town for a single game Wednesday.
