McPherson College’s baseball team split with Kansas Wesleyan on Sunday at Light Capital Diamond, but still came away with the series win by taking two of three.
Mac won the first game 11-8, but Wesleyan prevented the Bulldogs from reaching .500 in KCAC play with an 11-4 victory in the nightcap.
Mac is now 8-10 in the KCAC and 17-23 overall. It plays two non-conference games Tuesday at Bacone.
• Mac 11, Kansas Wesleyan 8 — After the Coyotes stunned the Bulldogs with five runs in the top of the eighth to take an 8-7 lead, the Bulldogs showed a lot of grit by putting up four runs to secure the win.
The Bulldogs played longball by going yard three times. Evan Willow, Lane Fleming and Dylan Fontenot blasted homers, with Willow also supplying a pair of doubles for a three-hit game. Jackson Goodmiller also had three as Mac totaled 16 in the contest. Fleming, Dylan Klava, Reily Martin and Jakob Shields all added two hits. Blake Ware was the winner, with Klava earning a save.
• Kansas Wesleyan 11, Mac 4 — The Coyotes used a pair of three-run innings to avoid the sweep.
Klava had a huge game in defeat with a pair of homers, good for three RBIs.
