McPherson High senior Gillian Martin has signed a letter of intent to cheerlead at McPherson College next year.

Martin began her cheerleading career in McPherson Middle School and then was an MHS cheerleader.

She said her decision came down to McPherson and Fort Hays State.

“I wanted to cheer and they have a really good academic program, which I’m really excited for,” Martin said as her reasons for picking Mac. “It’s a private school, so I think I would get a better education.”

Martin has been involved in a lot of activities at MHS. In addition to cheerleading, she’s been on the swim team, in the color guard, forensics, FCCLA, KAYS and the Gardening Club.

Martin said she’s leaning toward majoring in biology.
