Golf Course Program Coordinator POSITION SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Public Lands and Facilities Director and the Golf Course Operations Superintendent, the Golf Course Program Coordinator is an exempt position under FLSA. The TCGC program coordinator will help develop and implement adult and youth golf programs, such as leagues, camps, clinics, instructional programs and tournaments.  They will perform a variety of duties associated with providing administrative support to the Golf Course Operations Superintendent relating to facility management and community interaction.  They will also provide support for other golf course operations and programs as directed by Golf Course Operations Superintendent.  Coordinate and schedule seasonal and contractual staff for programs and facility management. This position will serve as the on-site supervisor at clubhouse, programs, and special events at the Golf Course.

The ideal candidate has experience implementing golf programs, in the area of adult and youth golf and special events at a golf course. Have patience, a positive attitude, excellent customer service skills and proficient communication skills. They will exhibit excellent marketing, time management, organization, multi-tasking and problem solving skills.  They should be able to execute ideas from start to finish, and they work well within a team environment.

This supervisory position requires a self starter, one who can work independently with limited direction. It requires the ability to plan and prioritize work for yourself and others. This position demands flexible schedule do to frequent evening and weekend work requirements. This position is responsible for the opening and closing of the TCGC clubhouse and outside facilities associated with the clubhouse. Expect lifting up to 100 pounds and other duties as assigned.

Responsible for analyzing community and group recreational and competitive golf needs, in selecting and adapting programs to meet those needs, in procuring the materials and resources necessary for implementing golf programs, and in making the most effective use of the course, facilities and staff.

This employee will research and develop recommendations regarding fees charged for golf course related functions, schedule special events and change in policy.

 Golf Course Operations Superintendent

Golf Course Operations Superintendent will be responsible for the successful and profitable operation of all aspects of the Turkey Creek Golf Course and its associated facilities.  Operations Superintendent willrequire a bachelor’s degree in golf course management, business administration, hotel and restaurant management, or a related field.  Must be able to obtain the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America Class A certification.

Skills

The Golf Course Operations Superintendent position will possess a wide range of skills. They must have good interpersonal skills to deal with employees, course members, outside organizations, and members of the public. Must possess excellent analytical and financial skills to develop and monitor golf course budget so that the course operates at a profit.  The successful candidate must have marketing and customer service skills to attract new and retain current members, daily participants, high school and collegiate teams, NAIA/KCAC, KSHSAA, youth and adult tournaments, etc.  Must also be familiar with the practical and financial aspects of managing and developing golf course facilities, including developing an online pro shop, operating restaurant/concession bar, clubhouse and creating other revenue opportunities.

Operations

The Golf Course Operations Superintendent will, train and manage two full-time employees and 25 – 35 temporary/seasonal employees to run the golf course operations. They will have two direct reports (1) golf course program coordinator responsible for developing and implementing adult and youth golf programs, such as leagues, camps, clinics, instructional programs and tournaments,  (1) Assistant Golf Course Maintenance Superintendent who will deal with the practical aspects of building, developing and maintaining the course.  The Operation Superintendent is responsible for recruiting of all employees associated with making the golf course successful..(maintenance workers, greens-keepers, clubhouse employees, volunteers, etc)

Marketing

Golf Course Operations Superintendent will be responsible for building membership and retaining memberships. Recommend and set the fees for membership, green fees, cart rentals, Etc., create promotional material to attract and communicate with golf course participants, develop plans to improve facilities, set goals to maximize the number of paying customers, offer customers attractions such as daily specials, special promotions, driving range, group and individual lessons, promote the course through advertising, social media, TV, Radio, web site, etc.., and organize tournaments to attract visiting golfers and create public interest.
