HALSTEAD — Smoky Valley’s baseball team lost a pair of decisions to Halstead on Monday.
In a well-played first game, the Dragons’ two runs in the third inning proved to be the difference in a 5-3 win. Smoky Valley had led 3-0 going into the bottom of the second when Halstead scored three runs to tie it.
Ben Weldy pitched a solid game in defeat. He also hit a double for the Vikes’ biggest hit.
The Dragons were a 15-0 winner in the second game, keyed by back-to-back six-run innings. Brett Heitschmidt took the loss and Austin Lustfield had the lone extra-base hit, a double.
Smoky Valley hosts Kingman today.
