LYONS — Canton-Galva’s girls’ 4 x 400 relay team broke a 38-year-old school record on Tuesday during a meet hosted by Little River and contested at Lyons.

Katie Fiedler, Tia Moddelmog, Brianna Gough and Maddie Snow made up the team that ran a 4:29.2 and took first place.

“It was a perfect day for a track meet and it showed in the number of season-bests and personal-bests the athletes achieved in their events,” C-G coach Tina McMannis said. “I am very proud of the progress these athletes are making so early in the season and am excited to see what they can achieve by the end of May.”

The relay was just part of a monster day for Fiedler. She was first in the 100 (12.7), 200 (27.8) and long jump (15-0).

Snow won the 400 (1:02) and Moddelmog was the champ in the high jump (4-8). Moddelmog medaled in the triple jump by taking second (33-1) and Gough brought home the bronze in the 800 (3:07.77).

For the boys, Dylan Wood had the highlight by winning the 400 in 53.69. Joey Johnson medaled in the high jump by taking second in 5-0. Also, the 4 x 400 relay team of Wood, Landon Everett, Chase Klinkerman and Mason Reed was third in 3:55.65.

C-G goes to Buhler on Monday for a meet hosted by Central Christian.
