Tickets are still available for the McPherson American Legion’s honoring of the 1949 national championship basketball team as well as the 1950 team that hosted the national tournament.
The banquet is scheduled for Saturday, April 22.
Carl Kasey, the lone surviving member of the 1949 title team, will be the guest of honor. Kasey was a longtime teacher for USD 418 and even at 94 is still very active in the community.
The evening starts at Post 24, 401 N. Main, at 5 p.m. with a social hour. A steak dinner is scheduled for 6 p.m., with a program starting at 7 p.m.
Memorabilia, including jerseys, warmups and even the tennis shoes from that era, will be on display.
Tickets, which are just $10, can be purchased from Dan Hervey at the Investment Center, 210 E. Euclid, Jim LaDuke at State Farm, 900 N. Main, or in the American Legion lounge after 4 p.m. daily.
