OTTAWA — McPherson College’s softball winning streak was snapped at six on Thursday as Ottawa took both ends of a doubleheader.

Mac dropped to 6-7 in the KCAC and 20-19 overall. It’s back in action today by hosting Southwestern. First pitch is 1 p.m.

• Ottawa 4, Mac 1 — The Braves scored two runs in the first and then added singletons in the fourth and fifth innings.

Mac was held to just three hits, one each by Judith Salazar, Katie Holmes and Chelsea Conrad, who scored the only run and had a triple.

Ottawa beat Mac ace Christie Betker, who had five strikeouts.

• Ottawa 3, Mac 0 — The Bulldogs’ offensive frustrations continued as they had six hits, but no runs.

Ottawa scored two runs in the third and a single run in the sixth.

Mac wasted a nice pitching performance by No. 2 pitcher Sydney Lang, who had four strikeouts and allowed just three runs. Conrad had two hits, including a triple, and Jessica Jones also had two hits.

“Our spark comes from some of our hitters and we need to find hits throughout the lineup and not just from a few people," Mac coach Ashley Spencer said. "When it comes down to it offensively, we just need to be better (against Southwestern). Both Sydney and Christie pitched well today. They both threw their games and didn't try to change anything to get into a rhythm. They were definitely in their games. The key word (against Southwestern]) is offense. If we can get something going offensively, whatever it is — small ball or big hits — we're going to take it and run with it."
