Central Christian College’s softball team put up a couple of good efforts against Tabor College here Thursday in its first games at home in more than a month.
But the Tigers came up short 4-2 and 1-0 as pitching was the story of the day.
Central is now 2-31 on the year and stays at home on Tuesday by hosting Bacone College.
• Tabor 4, Central 2 — The Bluejays put together two-run innings in the first and fourth to offset single runs in the second and fifth by the Tigers.
CCC had plenty of chances as it had nine hits in the game, including two by Mariah Grijalva, Lyssa Ritchhart and Chandler Gerk.
Kasi Kraus pitched well in defeat as she did not walk a batter and fanned five, while allowing only two earned runs.
• Tabor 1, Central 0 — Grijalva pitched a terrific game in defeat, allowing just an unearned run and walking only one, while permitting just five hits. Tabor’s only run came in the fourth inning on an error.
Rayne Wright had two hits for Central.
