Baseball Bulldogs, Sterling split

STERLING — McPherson College and Sterling College split a KCAC baseball doubleheader on Friday, with the rubber game set for today.

Mac reached the 20-win mark as it’s 20-24 overall, 9-11 in the conference. Sterling is one of the better teams in the KCAC as it’s now 13-7 in the conference and 29-11 overall.

• Sterling 4, Mac 3 — In a well-played game, two runs in the fifth and another in the sixth pushed the Warriors over the top.

Lane Fleming went yard twice for the Bulldogs as he provided most of the offense. Soren Yarnell pitched well in defeat.

• Mac 8, Sterling 3 —This was one of the more signature wins for the Bulldogs this year, as they scored eight runs in a three-inning span to upset the Warriors.

Dylan Fontenot had a homer and sac fly, good for three RBIs to lead the Bulldogs. Bryce Strecker drove in two runs. Dylan Klava had two hits, one a double.

Matthew Green, who has emerged as Mac’s ace, was nails in going the route, fanning 10.
