HOISINGTON — It’s been sweep or get swept for the Smoky Valley softball team this season.
On Tuesday, it was the former as the Vikings took both ends of a doubleheader from Hoisington to improve to 6-4 on the season with their third sweep.
The Vikings won a well-played first game 4-2, scoring two runs in the first and two in the fifth.
Megan Sample improved to 3-2 and was backed by a defense that was faultless as the Vikes did not commit an error. The game’s big blow was a two-run homer by Katie Bellah. Jordan Otto added two hits.
The second game was a polar opposite as the Vikings pounded out a 15-3 success. They scored seven runs in the second and four more in the third to break it open and make a winner of Otto, who is now 3-2.
Top hitters were Teagan Miller (three runs, RBI), Bellah (two homers, three hits, three runs, five RBIs), Jacque Hulse (two doubles, two RBIs), Otto (two hits, two RBIs), Sample (two RBIs), Emma Ryals (two runs) and Madi Mitchell (two hits, two RBIs).
The Vikings are home Friday to take on Hesston.
