LAWRENCE — For the first time this year, Central Christian College’s softball team swept an opponent.
The Tigers crushed winless Haskell twice on Wednesday, taking 15-1 and 14-5 decisions. They are now 5-32 on the year and have won three of their last four. The teams are scheduled to meet again on Saturday, this time in McPherson, weather permitting.
• Central 15, Haskell 1 — Kasi Kraus pitched a strong game and was backed by a 16-hit attack.
Cheyenne Bouis brought out a big bat with a homer, three hits and six RBIs. Kraus helped her own cause by going 3 for 3 and Mandy Jacques also had three hits. Central scored five times in the second inning and a whopping 10 times in the third to roll to the easy victory.
• Central 14, Haskell 5 — The Tigers kept the bats going in Game 2 with a 15-hit attack.
Big hitters were Morgan Hildebrandt (three hits, two RBIs), Mariah Grijalva (two hits), Bouis (two hits), Lyssa Ritchhart (two hits, three RBIs), Rayne Wright (two hits) and Rhemi Aguero-Pacheo (two hits).
Grijalva pitched the first two innings before Jacques finished up, throwing three shutout innings.
